CITY P INSTALLATION ART EXHIBITION

Exhibition is open daily except Monday

60 minutes, 0+

The concept of the exhibition was developed by producer Dmitry Milkov and curator Elizaveta Zakuraeva, and its design was created by artist Andrey Lyublinsky. The project is a unique blend of works by recognized contemporary Russian artists, graphic artists, photographers, and street artists who create the multifaceted appearance of the great city. The exhibition message is explained in the introductory film which is shown in the Lakhta Center Planetarium. The exhibition space is divided into different layers of meaning.

  • Zero Layer

Here the visitors are greeted by an immersive audio-visual installation filled with the impressions of the city streets, the urban rhythm and the voices of the city — everything that helps dive into the atmosphere of the exhibition and serves as a starting point of a personal art journey. The video art was created by Yuri Elik and Maria Fomenko; the sound design is by Alexander Vanyukov.

  • First Layer

Is formed by paintings and graphic works by contemporary artists: Ilya Ovsyannikov, Oleg Khvostov, Andrey Lyublinsky, Olga Vasilieva, and Ivan Chemakin. They depict St. Petersburg in a vivid, sometimes unexpected and a truly brilliant way

  • Second Layer

This space is filled with photos created especially for the exhibition in a photo lab curated by Yury Molodkovets, photographer-and-artist of the State Hermitage Museum. The works by photographers Dmitry Egorov, Alisa Lyu, Rina Mofe, Marina Sivakova, and Ivan Trukhano show the life of the city as captured right here and now. The photos are a bridge between everyday life and art.

  • Third Layer

Dramatic street art that just bursts into the exhibition space. The works by Maxim Ima, alesha and Bazelevs are a breath of a St. Petersburg street and a dialogue between the city’s heritage and modern times. They were created by the artists right on the walls of the Lakhta Center’s exhibition hall, on an improvised mesh banner.

Each visitor is provided with the audio guide created on the basis of a curator’s tour. A gift shop is available in the Planetarium area.
